I was hoping to start a futuristic western like firefly. The main idea of scifi western with our own charaters.
Val - The captian of the ship Emperors Faith. After getting out of the army and bumming around space for a few years befor coming into ownership of a Inquisitor class ship. The ship its self can house a great deal of people but only holds the sparse crew. The man himself is an enigma dealing where he should run and fighting where he sould deal. Even through his smartass exterrior he gets along at a core level with those around him.

I find RPs based off of shows tend to die out quickly. While I enjoyed Firefly and Serenity I will not be joining this. Best would be to base it loosely on firefly.
And if anything have it just be a Sci-Fi Western RP.
Just my two cents.

That is what it is I just used firefly as a refrence because most people know it. It would have nothing to do with those caraters ot any of there adventures. It was just a lose comparison for those who might have to look it up. Thanks though for telling me. I will go fix the wording

I like the idea of this. I'm gonna join up, but making hastily formed characters is a bad habit of mine, so I'm gonna think one up and post at a later time.

Give me some background for the plot, and the history of the universe it is set in, then I can make a good Character, the only way to do that is good research.

Plot and history, give me a minute.
Sometime after China allied with America forming the Alliance. Humanity branched out into colonisation. With several hundred planets and moons found safe for terraforming and colonisation, using Gravity drives to move quickly between them.
However, the Alliance was somewhat heavy handed with it's control over the other planets, many not being given more than basic terraforming, leaving the outer worlds mostly dry rocky desert environments. Resembling the 19th century american west.
This eventually led to the Unification wars, with the Alliance facing several outer planets wanting independance. The Alliance eventually won, with the most crushing defeat at The Battle of Serenity Valley.
It's pretty much a western set around 2517. With a mix of American and Asian culture. Bullets and 20th century weaponry are still used by the Outer Planets. With portable lasers being extremely expensive and high maintenance.
Some terms that may be useful.
Rutt, Ruttin: Sort of a slang swear word. In place of f*ck. Gorram: Used in place of God damn. 'verse: Short for universe. Shepard: Basically a missionary, though can be skilled in different religions. Reaver: Cannibalistic barbarians found near the outer worlds. Thought to be colonists who went mad on ships with radiation leakage. Use old model ships, makeshift weapons, and just seem to want to cause pain. Shiny: Cool, nice, impressive etc Fluid or Solid: Describing something as bad or good respectivly. Browncoat: Soldiers on the independants side during the unification wars, named after the brown dusters they wore. Companion:Courtesan similar to an Oiran. Well respected, if they black list a client, they can pretty much ruin them
************************************************** I'll join if this takes off.

It does not have to me so much based on firefly though that was just a refrence I used. The basis will be roughly something along the lines of fly around in space get shot at laugh about it in a bar get shot at and repeat. roughly

General Plot Line: Emperors Faith Comes upon an old disabled ship floating in a pirate shipping lane. it looks like a Military class ship but the modifications are those of a pirate ship. The hull was breached in many places but it was still showing sporadic life signs. Valentine decides that there might be cargo worth salvagin in the ship. His Pilot tries to find a tag on the ship but can find no name or description anywhere in the Holos about it. his crew needed to know what was going on so he called them to the bridge.
(This leaves it open to be a member of the crew, a passanger, or someone from the pirate ship.)

ok well i liked firefly and serenity a lot so ill give this a go.
Curt Maslin - Large man with lots of muscles and lots of guns, Curt was once a pirate, a bandit, a bank robber, and nearly every other despicable proffesion one could have in this day and age. He is crude, rude, and unabashed though he has an intelligence that allows him to survive when used in conjunction with his power. He is a large part of the muscle aboard the ship "Emperor's Faith" though he is always looking to get a bit more money or power. If he sees an advantage, he will take it.

Val siys up in bead abruptly banging his head on the bulkhead above him "Ow feth not again." He dangles his feet over the side cradeling his head. He hops out of bed and heads to the shower after a quick shower and a second to decide to leave the five oclock shadow he puts on a pair of old beaten up jeans a long sleve shirt his old great coat and straps on his pistol and knife sheath. After the pirate attack last year he still wasnt taking chances. Coming out of his room he bangs on the door opposite of his. "Curt get up we have to check the cargo hold again. This time bring the pistols the small ones small arms does not mean hand cannon. They are rats not raptors. Come on."

Is it OK if my character is a Formahn of the religion The Machine Cult of Locheed Mahtain? It would mean he would be a complete Zealot...
Y'see, the way I see it, after the unification wars the Machine Cult received a sudden rush of millions of new members, most of them displaced refugees who joined the cult wanting to quickly learn of their engineering secrets, passed down from the See-Eee-Oh of the original order himself... but found within the cult enlightenment, helped in part with the cults' obligatory bionic implants.
The Engineerium (A holy city much like the Vatican) has been sending out Formehn ever since to spread the word and drum up new members - And, of course, to help ailing machine spirits.
The cultists are all highly skilled in engineering, but are seen as completely mad by outsiders and are often reluctant to help the "unenlightened", jealously guarding their secrets of technology. They insist on seemingly pointless ceremonies to "Beseech the Machine Spirits" before they get to work... but you cant argue that machines "blessed" by the cultists keep running better for longer, and as such they are in high demands: After all, a single cultist can perform the duties of an entire engineering crew.
... that OK?

Curt opened his eyes at the pounding on his door. He hated hunting rats. Why did they even have to do it? rats never hurt anybody. at least... nobody he cared about anyway.
HE sat up out of bed, grabbed 3 pistols, as well as a grenade that he tucked in his pocket just in case, and duncked his head in a bucket of cold water. He dried off, then left the room heading towards the hanger.

Val half stumbles over Khallos in the hall with the side pannel off wires everywhere. "What is wrong with it now Khallos I thought you had this hall fixed last month?" He muttered under his breath a prayer to the god emper to keep his patience.

OOC: Might as well post his bio with the post.
Formahn Khallos: Khallos is a higher ranking member of the Machine Cult, having studied at the Engineerium itself. Like all cultists, he didn't "apply" for a job as such, but rather attached himself to the ship one day while it was in dock. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, however: he doesn't usually ask for payment, and the occasional shiny trinket found in a bazaar is usually enough to keep him sweet, and, of course, he is lending his exceptional mechanical skills to the crew. He makes a hobby out of building bonsai robots.
IC: Khallos pulled himself back a little, having been lying on his back on a crash-kart, his head immersed in the wiring. His face, as ever, was covered in soot and grime and what one could only hope was motor oil, his eyes obscured behind a pair of goggles. "Of course I did. You didn't expect it to STAY fixed, did you?"
He waved a hand, the mechanical third limb attached to his back rather disturbingly following its movements like a charmed snake. "The machine spirits demand an upgrade! I shall have it done within the hour." And with that, he pulled himself back into the access panel, getting back to work.

Val nods a little watching the mechanical arm "Alright then. If you want next the aft las cannons are a but sticky on the left turn do you think you could fix that? Come on Curt lets go get the rats so they stay out of Khalloses wireing. I would hate for him to tbe in this hall another week."

Curt walked past the mechanic, eying him. He never did like the look of that third arm, it'd be a pain to deal with if the mechanic ever... well he didnt really know what to call it. Malfunction he guessed would be the proper word based on all the metal and stuff he used and had. Curt followed the captain down to the hanger, his pistols in his hand, the captains back to him in a small hallway. To bad he didn't know how to fly the stupid ship or he'd take the captain out right then. oh well, there'd be another time.

out of all the people on his ship he trusted Curt enough to let him carry guns while behind him. He knew that if given the chance curt would probably kill him but so far he hadent so val had paid him well. They reach the cargo bay and they split up laughing at there almost blatant looks of joy at something to break the monotony.

Khallos didn't even bother to pull himself back out of the access panels as they left. "I'll take a look, captain, although if it's a spiritual rather than mechanical issue than i cant make any promises." Odd man >.>
Still, once they had turned the corner Khallos pulled out and sat up a little, narrowing his eyes, his third arm still industriously removing and replacing components from the wiring behind him. He didn't like the look of the first mate, either...
He reached into his pocket, removing something which he rolled over to the nearby Jerry tube... which it dropped into. "Go my pretty. Keep an eye on them..." And with that, he leant back down on the Crash-Kart and got back to work.

Val soon tired of killing rats and left the last few to Curt as he made his way back though his ship. It was big enough for a man to get lost in and stay that way but he knew it all down to the smallest bolt by heart. He worked his way back to th bridge and wondered if Khallos had even met the other dozen machine cultists they had aquired on there last planet dock. Khallos would have been over them as being a higher rank as far as he could guess. he opened a comm link "Khallos come in. I do not know if you are aware but there are a dozen other of your order on my boat. I just thought I would inform you. If you would like i will have them all come to the bridge where you could meet them."

"Other Cultists? Yeah, I noticed." It seems Khallos was still working on the Access panel. "Hehe. We Machine Cultists are more in tune with each other that you'd expect..." It didn't hurt that their brains were all hot-wired into a wireless network >.>
"Still, a face to face would be nice. I don't know anyone's passwords, i want to tell them to stop moving my tools around..."

Curt exited the hanger, the last of the rats still smokeing on the deck.
He walked in to the dining hall, another one of the mechanics working at the fod proscessor, He listened to th conversation as he grabbed some munchies, then moved off to his room. He grabbed a few guns, and moved off the the cockpit to meet up with the captain.
"We gonna have any action soon capn?" He asked.
