** Now Open ** (new characters still accepted) The third planet from a medium-sized star, known by its inhabitants as Evemada. Although the planet is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, humans are among the most notable inhabitants, existing all across the globe. The planet itself is a diverse mixture of climates, from cold icelands near its poles to hot deserts near its equator. There are dense jungles and deep oceans, barren wastes and bustling cities. Civilizations of humankind have risen and fallen over the centuries, and while their scientific and spiritual achievements have varied, religion is always the same. The humans believe their race, as well as the world as they know it, were created by beings known as Architects. According to common knowledge, the Architects created the galaxy, the stars, then the planets, and finally the human race. Although there is no evidence of these events having taken place, most humans are wary of questioning the tale. Especially since the Architects now walk among them. Rules:This RP is intended to be very open and malleable. Things that would've been considered god-modding or trenchcoaty will be quite acceptable here. The world is a sandbox; create or destroy as you see fit. However, for the sake of fairness/fun for all, there will be a couple of general rules (updated as necessary): 1) Don't blow up the planet. Seriously, just don't do it. Then you'll all be floating in space and have to fly to another planet, and that's just too damn complicated. 2) You can't control time. Because of the obvious constraints of play-by-post RP, any time powers will screw things up for others. In general, time is going to pass as people post. 3) Character death is illegal.* Character pwnage is not.Architects are, for all intents and purposes, immortal.* If one should "kill" another, the killed character will either be knocked out and forced to wait for a while before they can wake up, or be destroyed and quickly respawn somewhere else. (The player should decide at time of character creation which of these occurs) Obviously, if two or more characters are in a fight, things can get out of hand, and likely neither character will want to die. If such a fight starts going on for a long time, the players involved should decide in PM or the FAQ thread who will win the round, then finish the encounter accordingly. Characters:You play the role of one of the supernatural beings known as Architects. Architects look more or less human, but are apparently ageless. They usually have overly exotic appearances reflecting their personality, almost like they are caricatures of themselves. All of the Architects first appeared on Evemada after plummeting from the sky like meteors, having no memories of their existence before that time. They landed in various times throughout history, and at various locations across the planet. These factors affect their earthly shape as well as their powers over the world around them. Architects don't share the same sense of morality as humans, so they can be good, evil, comical or serious, or anything in between. I'll allow up to 2 characters for each player, but I recommend you start with one. Powers:Some basic powers are common to all Architects (see below), but all other powers over weather, the elements, etc. depend on where and when they first arrived on Evemada. For instance, an Architect who landed in the ocean would gain control over water, while one that landed in a jungle would gain power over plants and animals. So, when creating your character, be creative as possible, but check with others before giving your character any powers that might be considered excessive. Also, try not to take more than two or three different elements. It's okay if your character has a wide range of powers, but it has to make some kind of sense in the RP universe. Common PowersStrength - Architects have more or less limitless strength, but making use of it requires a focused and deliberate effort. You can juggle ocean liners if you want to, but not for more than a few seconds at a time. Inexperienced Architects may not even be aware of the full extent of their physical strength. Flight - All Architects can fly through the air simply by willing their body to move in any given direction. Gravity really only applies if you want it to. (Keep in mind, though, this is also a conscious power. So, if you get knocked out and tossed off a building, you're going to fall) Creation - Whatever an Architect's chosen elemental power is, it is assumed they are experienced enough with it to create physical objects from that element. The size/strength/complexity of these objects depends on the time and effort put into creating them. Sixth Sense - Architects can recognize the power of other Architects when they are being exercised. They don't immediately recognize one another all the time, but if one Architect does something big, all the others will sense it. (This is for the sake of making encounters more likely, since everyone is sort of spread across the globe at first. Think of this like 'the force' from Star Wars, and the Architects are the equivalent of Jedi) Resilience against Death* - (Note: these powers act unconsciously, so no effort is required to ward off injury) Architects with the Respawn death type are tougher than average humans, but can still be destroyed. Their new bodies will be formed in their chosen method a short time after being "killed." Architects with the KO type are basically considered indestructible. Their skin doesn't bruise; their bones don't break; dislodged limbs can be snapped back into place easily. However, since Architects still experience pain normally, they can still be rendered unconscious or otherwise incapacitated. In extreme cases (ie, atomic bombs, drowning in molten rock, hit in the back of the head with the Chrystler building, etc), they can be forced into a sort of hibernation to devote their energy to mentally and physically recovering. (The length of this hibernation must be agreed upon by the parties involved) Special Note: TechIn case it comes up, assume that the most advanced people on the planet have close to modern technology and weapons. Nothing too futuristic. Areas further from population centers will have proportionally less advanced technology available. * Special Note: Tecturium oreRecent events in the story have changed the rules a bit. Read my quick explanation of this ore here in the RPFAQ thread. ----- Character List:Player: Name - Element(s) - Death type Me: Aurum - Light, Stone - KO - Cain - Life/Death - KO TBE: Allarsom - Air - Respawn Scorpio: Drago - Fire - KO - Noxious - Smoke - Respawn Zamiel: Shakes - Ice, Water - Respawn Hira: Yamino - Darkness, Gravity - Respawn Kanian: Marks - Electricity - Respawn Khallos: Kha'los - Life/Biology - KO

Name: Aurum Gender: Male Landing Point: a large sun scorched desert in the mid east Elements: Light, Stone/Precious Metals Death: KO
Description: Aurum has long matted blonde hair, standing at odd angles and falling down past his waist. He wears the tattered remnants of clothes, but uses his powers to bend light to make them glitter like gold.
His powers let him manipulate light and stone respectively. Having a very child-like demeanor, he has been known to create immense structures out of sand in the middle of the desert just to amuse himself. He usually lives and plays in the desert where he landed, considering it something of a home. He doesn't wander toward civilization often, but when he does, everyone within a hundred miles knows it.

Name: Allarsom Gender: Male Landing Point: The eye of a hurricane as it made landfall. Elements: Air. Death: Respawn ( Turns into mist that forms cloud in atmosphere. Returns after several minutes in rain-sized pieces before reforming... somewhere around where he died.)
Description: Allarsom likes to wear what is in "Style" on Evemada. He has short, spiky brown hair with died tips, and albino-white eyes. Allarsom would like nothing more than for people to realize that he is the coolest living entity in all of Evemada. Though his powers do blow.
Allarsom's ability lets him move large objects (And himself) in gusts of wind, allowing him to use them as weapons or, usually, to impress as many ladies as godly possible. He can capture small objects in precision gusts, letting him move them around. He also has something akin to super breath. A good way to clear a crowd is with a cloud of garlic and onion.
Recently Allarsom has been experimenting with moving around evemada with his power. It was handy to have the day he decided to get a pool.
OOC: Is that the kinda character that would be ok?

OOC: Okay, I just realized I broke my own rule. When making a character, everyone please specify whether their "death" type is KO or Respawn. It makes fighting easier if people know whether their opponent is indestructible or not.

Name: Drago Gender: Male Landing Point: During a volcanic eruption Elements: Fire/body Death: KO
Somewhat of an annoyance to others, Drago portrays himself as a trainer or wise master despite his youthful looks, claiming to prepare others to defend Evemada, any problems he's helped solve turn out to be purely localised and minor.
Full of proverbs and irritating wit, but in decent physical condition for hand to hand combat, with the power of fire behind it.

Name: Shakes Gender: Male Landing Point: An iceburg floating in the artic regions. Elements: Water, Ice Death: Respawn
Description: Shakes is just shy of six feet tall. He sports icy blue eyes and short hair that could be dyed white, but probably isn't. His facial features are strong yet slender, and he could be considered handsome, in his own spaced-out kind of way.
Background: The Architect known simply to most people as "Shakes" is a rather odd case for an Architect. Whereas most of the others flaunt their godliness, Shakes prefers anonymity, and works the register at a fast-food joint. Or alledgedly, anyway. Shakes' co-workers cover for him more often than not, as he always seems to go missing for long periods of time during the workday. He's actually not that busy, only working two days out of the week. So why would he skip work?
Honestly, the Architect hates himself. Or what passes for hate among the Gods. Shakes, when he's missing from the register, can often be found in the freezer, smoking and sometimes crying. And when he's worn down the cigarette, he rolls up his sleeves and jams the butt into his arm. Just to feel warm. Because, despite having a godly mastery of water and ice, Shakes hates the cold, and therefore, himself.
Powers: In addition to the "normal" abilities of Architects, Shakes can do anything with ice and water. Well, except heat it up. He can't do that. But freeze it, color it, shape it, become it, yes. He can do that. One of Shakes' more notable abilities is that he can travel between water and ice instantaniously (a handy feature that allows him to hop from ther freezer at work to "home"). Shakes can also change size and shape by absorbing ambient water and ice.
Shakes, despite being an Architect, is as easy to kill as any human is. The problem is, he won't stay dead. Despending on how he dies, he'll either melt or shatter, only to reform out of the nearest body of water or ice large enough.
Home: Shakes travels a lot (often to nice, warm places, though he can barely feel it), but he does have a home. A floating palace in the artic waters of Evemada. The water-borne structure is large, but Shakes often isn't there.

OOC: Alright, I'm calling this open. Everyone can start in whenever you want. New characters are still welcome.
IC:
San Pedro lies on the edge of the Aurum Desert, named for its famed inhabitant. Formerly a very quiet rural town, San Pedro saw a spike in tourism roughly 5 years ago, when Aurum first touched down. His ever-growing collection of psychedelic sand sculptures draws a crowd year-round. After all, who wouldn't want to see the world's largest Ottoman, or a giant shark's head emerging from the desert floor.
One day, Aurum made one of his more modest entrances to town, riding through the streets on a miniature landslide. The moving mound of earth rumbled to a stop in front of a small general store. Aurum hopped off and strolled casually inside. The store patrols and employees alike dropped what they were doing. The Architect's visits to their town weren't rare, but it was the kind of thing no one ever got used to.
"Hey, Manny!" Aurum smiled and walked up to the store manager, who was probably the least excited of the group, though that's not saying much.
"Ah, Aurum, sir, welcome. So good to see you again." Manuel always acted as politely as possible to the Architect. Aurum usually was quite friendly to everyone, but Manuel still wanted to make a point of staying on his good side, just in case Aurum found himself in a bad mood someday. A grouchy Architect is never a pretty sight.
"Hey, you get that book I asked about yet?"
"Oh, yes, it just came in the other day." Manuel scurried to his office and back again a moment later, holding a large square book with colorful photographs. "Amazing Animals of the Southern Hemisphere. Nice choice."
"Thanks. I needed some inspiration to finish the rest of my zoo section."
"Very good, sir. Can I get you anything else today?"
"Uh, you have any of those coconuts left?"
"Sure, sure, of course. Right this way." He lead Aurum through the produce section. The market actually started stocking exotic fruits just because Aurum had wanted them. "Here we are."
"Thanks a bunch, man." Aurum took the book and the fruit. "So, what do I owe you?"
"Oh, please, sir, don't be silly-"
"No, no, I insist." Aurum reached into the pocket of his tattered gold vest and pulled out a handful of sand. He clenched his fist, and the sand fused into a small, perfectly clear diamond. "This oughtta cover it."
"Wow. Ah, thank you, sir. You're too kind."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." He placed the gem in the man's hand and turned to leave. "See you around, Manny. Thanks again."
"No, thank you, sir. Come again any time."
Aurum stepped outside and looked around. He was planning to head straight back to his giant sand castle in the desert, but then decided he would rather stick around and see what else was happening in town.

Name: Yamilka Nostrovia. (Yamino for short)Translated : The Arctic Cold of the Dark(Abyss) Elements: Darkness and Gravity Landing point:Pierced through thousands of feet under a near frozen ocean long ago during the 3rd Ice age and ended in a dark trench. Gender:Male Death: Respawn. ~~~Bio~~ This Architect here still proves to be one of less mentioned one(seeing as how he landed in the middle of the arctic seas). He's spent most of his time in the blackness of the sea, being an Architect he saw just fine in those inky black waters and is at home with it, never curious about the things above the war but only to the vast miles of seabed underneath it. His first contact with humans was in the late industrial era when a crab fishing tug happened to catch hold of him and surprised him when they actually did; as this is the first time Yamilka has seen humans in his everlasting life, he immediately marveled at the advanced technology at that time and became enamored in it. Although he was quite naive at the time, he quickly learned of the selfishness and more darker elements of humanity and quickly turned into a self proclaimed misanthropic person(Although he himself isn't misanthropic), knowing that he is a God among these mortals. However, he concealed his feelings and absolved to absorb all knowledge to further his own goals which he was not certain yet, until he met his first Architect and found out there are those like him, as STRONG as him, he could not stand that. So in his 300 years of living among humans and raising his own status in their currency and many other and finally giving him his own stock under his name of course signifying he has achieved material wealth in the human world. His powers are quite strange ones as well, the ability to cast darkness over a large area.(Nearly 2 miles) , the ability to control shadows and make them animate beings of malice and dread.(Even sentient beings shadows as well) the ability to create a gravity well of dark smoke. When you look at him, you will see what you would expect to see from all or most Architects, Beautiful majestic golden eyes with lustrous platinum irises, iridescent white hair, amazingly great skin, and pearl white teeth, incidentally he looks Slavic or European in terms of facial structure. He's the head of Nostrovia Industries for the past 87 years and has used his mastery of knowledge to negotiate his Fortune 500 company through the dangerous waters of Corporations and Bureaucracy with charm, wit and decisive thinking. He does however....have a darker side to his company, that's a story for another time. Pictures: psupedia.info/images/4/45/Karl_Friedrich_Howzer.png psupedia.info/images/6/69/KarlF.jpgOOC: Wow, amazing how creative you get while stoned. Nonetheless I always wanted to see what a Lex Luthor with superpowers would be like. might aswell try it now.

Name: Marks Gender: Male Landing Point: Massive lightning storm, in a urban metroplex Elements: Electricity/ Death: Respawn (displaces remaining intact atoms in a flash of electricity, and the reassembles after his body is rebuilt) Description: The most 'normal' out of all the Architects, with a lack of outrageous hair and other feature, he is for all intents and purposes, "human" by appearance. Due to his landing point in time he has adopted a general look of the age, also sticking in his 'normalness'. His appeared age is that of a 20 year old. Bio: The 'youngest' Architect, in terms of when he arrived in the world. He arrived in the midst of a massive electrical storm that was over a major urban center. He has only been in the would a few years, if that, as such he has no real idea of his abilities, having ignored them almost all together, however one should not underestimate this man, he has many innate abilities, and the unconsciousness ability to use them. After his arrival he has settled into a life, working when he can and trying to forget that he has no idea who is he or where he came from. He has also not experienced respawnation yet. Powers: During stressful times he is able to have control over all forms of electricity, and subsequently magnetism. This exhibits itself in many ways. However whenever he is not in a stressful situation, thanks to his neglect of common practice, he is only able to hurl electric blasts of energy, charge things around him, example, charging up a metal pole and using it as a weapon, tripling the damage the pole could do alone, another basic power of his is drawing in power from electricity sources, reivigerating him.

~Personal offices of Nostrovia Industries~
"Yes, I know of the cost of those things, I MADE THEM, pay the price or the Galadarian Military will have none of them, do you understand human?" I yell at the video screen.
He flinches and then looks at me.
"Yes sir, I'm sorry for bothering you..." He says, conceding to me.
"Good, now contact me again when you've got the funds." I say, closing the channel.
I stand up and stretch and yawn.
"Why is it that these people even try to appeal me with their human 'sympathy', makes no sense, I'm not even human." I say, crushing my ciggarette onto a little droid made just for crushing ciggarettes on.
I open the window and a gush of wind comes in but I quickly jump out of it and I stand ontop of...nothing as if I'm still on the floor.
I look beneath me and what's down there is my company fountain and I slowly start decending toward it as if I'm in an elevator.
"Bottom floor, Low rent, low class, low mortality beings of filth, here I am." I say, as I touch the pavement with my shoes.

Shakes was supposed to be working. Was he?
Not in the least.
With his buddies at the BurgerGod in his "hometown" covering for him, Shakes had gone off to the freezer for a quick smoke, and decided to take a vacation. So, it was off to the first warm place he could think of: the desert.
So, Shakes was sitting at a cafe in some town named San Pedro (he had to emerge from the icebox behind the cafe, beleive it or not), smoking his coffin-nail. As he crumbled the warm butt to ash in his hands (and felt the fleeting, miniscule warmth), a certain someone came by.
"S-s-show-off." Shakes said to himself as he lit another cigarette, hand shaking all the while. The desert's infamous Architect had stopped by. Shakes prayed a silent prayer to....something, that the other Architect wouldn't recognize him.
He hated the spotlight.

OOC: It occurs to me how unlikely meetings could be if everyone's scattered across the globe. To remedy things, I've added the Sixth Sense rule to the first post.
IC:
Aurum stopped and looked around. Aside from a small crowd of people who'd come to see him, the town seemed to be business as usual. Still, he could have sworn he had felt something unusual nearby.
Hmm... maybe it's just my imagination. He took one of the coconuts out of his pocket and broke it cleanly in half. He raised one half to his mouth and drank the milk out of it, then bit a large chunk out of it and started chewing.
"Aurum! Over here!" someone shouted suddenly.
Aurum turned toward the sound, and a young man in overalls ran up to him.
"Yo," Aurum said through a mouthful of coconut flesh.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Your Holiness, but I need to ask for your help. You know about the quakes we've had these past few days, right? Well, many of the buildings downtown were damaged by the vibrations, some destroyed altogether. It's quite a lot of damage, and a lot of people have been left without homes."
"I see. You want some help rebuilding, huh?"
"Please, Great One, if you could find it in your heart-"
"Yeah, yeah, sure. I'll do it. Lead the way."
"Oh, thank you! Come, follow me."
The man motioned south and started walking. Aurum followed him, also walking. He decided to save his powers for the job at hand.

My cellphone rings and I flip it out and I answer it.
"Yamino speaking, state your business and move on." I say into it, reaching into my pocket for a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
"Mr. Nostrovia, there seems to be a issue with one of the San Pedro Petroleum Plant, and we need your authorization key to shut it down for the time being to commence repairs." My Head of Engineering says to me.
I sigh deeply and I light my cigarette with my free hand.
"Alright, I'll be there shortly and make sure you order more durable parts, I heard that there was an Architect like me there, but he can make precious stones and such, I'll see if he can make some parts out of his powers or something." I say back to him, taking a long drag of the cigarette in hand.
I move back into the shadow of my building and I vanish into purple smoke and I appear suddenly in the San Pedro Market District.
The people around me are shocked to see another Architect like me just pop out of thin air like that.
"What, you sods never seen a Architect before?" I say, as I encase the cigarette in a small tube of ice and crush it.
I walk towards the Aura I'm feeling and it suddenly becomes stronger.
"I'm getting close, hopefully he won't say no." I say, regretting the first time I ever experience something close to death with one Architect 40 years ago.
I finally catch up to him.
"You there, Architect of Light, I require your assistance with something." I say, levitating above him and landing right in front of his path.

Aurum cocked his head. "Well, aren't I the popular one today." The guy in overalls started to nervously step aside, but Aurum stopped him.
"See, everyone, this is what I get for being a nice guy. I just can't afford it anymore. Once word leaks out that an Architect has gone soft, people begin to disobey you, and then it's nothing but work, work, work, all the time.
"Well, Your Darkliness, I'd love to help you out, but this guy was here first. But hey, if you like, we can discuss the details, and maybe I can pencil you in for tomorrow."

:Far away Metroplex:
Dust flings up into the air following a landing onto one of the building rooftops, the runner stands back up and takes off again, a messenger bag along his back.
As he nears a building edge he jumps, covering the small gap easy and continues running, making use of various freerunning skills. The young man breaths hard as he races, he was on a time limit, and he was running close, close enough to warrant....that.
The man changes his pace and quickens, twice the speed he had been going, which was already impressive, he didn't like to do it, but a pay check is a pay check. He makes it to the edge of the building and jumps, he crosses a jump of over 100 feet easy and lands on the other side, his pace never faltering.
He continues this for a few minutes before coming to the building he has been tasked to getting the parcel to, and comes to stop at a 500 foot gap, he had never quite done a jump that far, 400 maybe, but 500? The young man shrugs and back up and races to end and and jumps...
And fails....epicly, his lack of practice causes him to miss the building, by at least 22 feet. As he flails through the air he reaches out for something, anything, when sparks begin emitting from his hands and fingers, his grip takes hold of a power cord and suddenly all he knows is black.
:San Pedro:
The old power lines spark and fitz oh the far side of town, before a huge bolt of electricity bursts forth and a young man appears in mid air at the end of the bolt, slamming into the ground, not hard enough to do any real damage though, even by human standards. The young man groans as he stands up among the scattered dust and coughs before stumbling about the town, disoriented, eventually finding his way to a cafe. "What the hell?" he mutters to himself as he stumbles into the cafe.
He looks to a nearby patron, someone with white dyed hair, "Where am I?" he says almost drunkenly, still a bit out of it.

I'm taken aback by by the rudeness of the Light Architect.
"I beg your pardon?" I say, annoyed.
I open up my phone and I dial a number and I turn my back on the Architect.
"Yes Curtz, I couldn't get this useless Architect to assist us with repairs, lay off all workers in the San Pedro plant, We'll move operations to the Cal Disano plant." I say, closing the phone.
"This is all your fault, 80% of the population here works and depends on the plant for their prosperity, congratulations." I say, walking away from him and lighting up a cigarette.

"What? Hey!"
Aurum handed his book to the man in overalls, then quickly slid across the sand like an ice skater and stopped right in front of Yamino, blocking his path.
"Look, slick, you really gotta learn some patience. If you've got a problem with how I do things around here, that's fine, but that's no reason to take it out on these folks here. Now, I get you're used to having things your way, but if you want something from me, you're gonna have to wait your turn like everybody else."
As he spoke, a small stone pedestal started forming under Aurum's feet, emphasizing his point.
"Maybe you're used pushing people around to get what you want back home, but you're in my neck of the woods now, Jack. So maybe you should try showing a little... ah, what's the word... humility."

I quirk my eyebrow and I flick my cigarette on his chest and place my hand on the side of his head and push him out of my way.
"Time is money, I don't pay for vacations." I say, continuing to walk away toward the plant.
"Now please, if you will do not waste my time with your...talks about humility." I say as I walk about 10 feet away from them.

Aurum felt quite insulted. For a second, he considered tearing open the ground under the smug Architect's feet and burying him under a few miles of rock, but he let it pass.
"Well, fine," he scoffed. "Go on, Mr. Moneybags. See if you get invited to my next luau." He turned and walked back to the overalls guy. "Listen, don't worry about that blowhard. You don't need his stupid oil plant. By letting him set up shop here, this town was helping him, not the other way around.
Aurum's eyes literally lit up. "In fact, with his operation gone, we can get a new refinery set up. We hire all local workers. I can use my earthy ways to find the hidden oil wells under the desert, the town'll make plenty of money, and you won't have to give him a cent." He glanced back at Yamino. "If anything, I'd say he got the wrong end of that deal."

OOC: Two can play at that game.
I turn around and walk back towards them.
I reach into my pocket and pull out a PDA.
"See this? This little deed here means the resources here is under my name untill the day I die, which unfortunately for these folks will never happen, so I doubt you guys can "legally" open a plant here." I say, sneering at them.
"Nice try though, not good enough." I say, levitating an apple into my hand and eating it.
I turn on my heel and I walk away from them, once again.

Aurum folded his arms across his chest. "A deed, huh? Figures. Of course, it would take a human, or some other lower life form, to come up with a piece of writing that says they own a piece of land." He turned to overalls guy again. "Er, no offense."
"Um, no problem," he said meekly.
"See, now as for me, I've always said that desert is mine. There's nothing in writing to back it up, but you'll have to look far and wide to find somebody who'd be stupid enough to say otherwise."
When it came right down to it, the town might not need the refinery all that badly. There would be some tough times because of this, sure, but tourism dollars were always coming in. The town would find a way to survive like it always had. That wasn't what bothered Aurum. It was the principle of the thing, really.
"You've been living with mortals too long, friend. The world can't just be bought and sold anymore. There's a new golden rule now..."
Aurum grabbed a handful of sand off the ground and held it over his head. Clutching it in his fist, the sand turned to gold dust. He blew the dust into the wind. The spectators made a few faint oohs and aahs as the golden dust twinkled in the afternoon sun.
"He who has the gold makes the rules. You get me?"

"Your Gold is worthless, know why? Cause unlike it being found underground, you make it in sand causing economic distress." I say, grabbing the Gold dust with my powers and compacting it and making into a small gold bar.
"Don't make me laugh with your meek powers boy, I've got several decades on you." I say to him, sneering.

"Yeah, I guess you're right about that. Really, I was just trying to be metaphorical, but I guess I'm not very good at that."
Aurum's eyes widened a bit, and the gold bar quickly melted away to mud.
"Look, I can see you're a busy guy, so I'll save us some time and just give it to your straight: money's dead. As much as I love it, gold is just pretty shiny rocks now. These days, might makes right. Now, this desert, and this town, are the closest thing I've got to a home. And these people are the closest I'll ever have to family. They're important to me, you know?
"Now, if you want to be Mr. Big Shot and play Monopoly with the rest of the world, that's fine by me. But not here. Not if I have anything to say about it. Understand?"

I chuckle and I approach a small store.
"No, I don't." I open my palm outwards toward the store and I blow it away in a blast of gravity, destroying it and everything and everyone inside it.
"Do not anger me, I'd rather conserve my powers for more important matters." I say, getting another cigarette out of my pocket and lighting it.
I wipe the mud on my hand on a nearby human's shirt.

Aurum put his palm over his face, trying to hide his reaction.
"I really wish you hadn't done that... But, to be perfectly honest..." He moved his hand away from his face, revealing a twinkling grin. "I'm kinda glad you did."
The sand under Yamino's feet suddenly rose up and wrapped itself tightly around his feet and legs, hardening into stone. He'd be able to break out of this pretty quickly, but not quickly enough.
Aurum flew toward Yamino. He raised one hand to the sky, calling on the stronger of his powers. The harsh desert sunlight flew into his outstretched hand and became solid, taking the shape of a huge club or bat. Just as the stone restraints on Yamino's feet shattered, Aurum spun around wildly and smacked him in the chest with the light weapon, sending him flying several hundred feet into the air.
"And it's going, going..."
Just for good measure, Aurum warped the bat into a round shape and started charging it with light energy. In case Yamino recovered too quickly, he'd have a big shiny surprise waiting for him.

I quickly encase myself in a ball of gravity and I repel him and I quickly regain my composure.
"How dare you..." I say through my teeth as I blow out of the ball and I disappear and re appear into his shadow.
"These pants cost more than most of these people here make in 10 years..." I say, grabbing him by the neck and throwing him into the air and I quickly jump up and I kick him twice in the chest, then I grab him by the air and I hurl him into the floor and just as he rebounds I crash down on his face with my heel.
I step off of his face nonchalantly and I throw my Jacket onto a fire hydrant, wearing only my pants and dress shirt and tie.
"I'd rather not dirty myself with you." I say as I summon several shadow drones from the humans around him and they walk towards him.
"Oh, go ahead and hurt them, the humans will feel it too." I say.

Aurum slowly got to his feet. "That's how you're gonna play, huh? Didn't know you were coward, too."
He smirked as the shadow creatures closed in. He braced himself and leapt high into the air, landing next to the hydrant.
"Why waste my time with them? I'm guessing they'll disappear just as soon as you do. After I'm through with you, the next time you see daylight, your clothes'll be out of style. Speaking of which, this is a nice jacket. Pretty expensive, I'm guessing."
Aurum grabbed the jacket and dropped it on the ground, which immediately turned to quicksand and swallowed up the jacket.
