Frank continued to fire his Ak, taking down one of the now-flightless demons. It exploded rather spectacularly, and it was close enough for the Imbued to feel the heat.
And he kept shooting.

The chopper dropped down over an empty patch of sand a few yards behind Frank. We hit the ground rather abruptly, and I gave everyone the signal to move out.
The last airborne demon flew back to rejoin the others as we took up firing positions. The demon squad clearly wasn't prepared for a fight, as most of them were armed with swords and other medieval weapons. The biggest threat besides their leader was the little guy with the fireball-spewing weapon from earlier. I figured if we could eliminate that threat, we'd have them beat easily.
"Everybody stay on your toes," I said, keeping an eye out for any flaming death from above.

I zoom through the air like a dart heading towards the Demon Commander.
If anyone could see my face underneath my helm I'd be smiling as I turn my body and I grab a flare and light it, using my momentum and the fire from the flare I pierce through several demon grunts and I finally reach the commander, piercing through his left shoulder, and hearing him bellow in pain.
"Kynatch viedmous boletirant?(Did that hurt comrade?)" I say, speaking Cocytusian.
"Sinivat kabeske dondruma boletirant, cise kondrima cadlun!!(How dare you call me a comrade you traitorous vermin!)" He screams at me while swinging his two claymore at me.
I use the flare in my hand as a flame source and I imbue my arms in white hot fire, and I use my arms to block and melt the claymores.
"Kinkat?!(What?!)" The Commander exclaims as I kick him in the kneecap, breaking it, then using his broken knee to jump up to his face and I slam my still fire imbued hand into his skull, killing him instantly.

As expected, the attack on their leader threw the demons into a confused frenzy. They continued their charge toward our group, but obviously with no plan anymore. They were just running straight into our gun barrels. Demons were dropping like flies, occasionally catching fire or exploding as their flammable bodily fluids came in contact with the air.
"Keep it up," I said to the others. "Just try not to hit our guys."
I caught sight of the little guy with the flame cannon again. I reached out with my mind and invaded his nervous system. A moment later, the demon started to twitch and spasm, each time more and more violently. Finally, he collapsed to the ground, falling on top of his own weapon and accidentally triggering it. With its barrel buried in the sand, the weapon backfired and exploded, taking out several more demons. Less than a dozen were left.
"Try to keep one alive," I said to the group. "You know, for questioning."

David got a little shaken during the landing, then shoved aside by the real soldiers as they poured out of the helicopter to continue the fight. Trying to keep his balance he staggered out after them and reloaded his weapon before spraying at the demons flying around the area.
"I'm thinking my rush through basic small arms wasn't enough for this."
He managed to take one down after a minor SIAS moment gave him the proper trajectory for severing its wings, causing it to land as it burned kicking up dust cover for the team. However the rest of the trained troops outdid his bodycount by far. Lucky he wasn't picked for his combat skills.

The hot shells ejected from the AK bounced off of Stein's forearm as he ripped the air with 7.62mm rounds. These rounds would then go on to tear holes in wings, flesh, and bone.
And...brain-matter.
Crap. Stein wasn't very good at non-lethal shots....

As the shots ring through the air Jon notices a type of demon he had encountered many times back in the city. He had watched many types of demons during his weeks in the city, and he knew a weakness he could exploit to capture it.
Seeing a gap in the fighting he vaults over his cover and shoots at the man sized demon's leathery wings, ripping the membrane up and removing the demon's possible escape.
He pulls out an old combat knife and tackles the demon, struggling with it before slashing it across the chest, from its arm to gut, it howls in pain as Jon throws it to the ground and stabs his knife into the gap in the bone right underneight the left wing.
The demon goes limp, paralyzed from the strike. Jon ducks under the gun fire and fire flying around him and the demon, before dragging the limp body behind some cover.
"I got one Jim" Jon yells out from behind the cover, his knife still embedded into the demon's back.

I gave a nod toward Jon and kept shooting. The remaining few demons were falling fast. A few moments later, there was only one left standing. I gave the men the signal to stand down. Two survivors meant better chances of useful intel.
"You," I called to the demon, keeping my weapon trained on him. "If you want to live, put your claws up where I can see 'em, and walk over there." I pointed to the spot where Jon had the other demon pinned down. The standing demon snarled but didn't move. He was just a imp grunt, so he probably didn't speak English.
"Karis, would you mind translating?"

I quickly nod and I take one of the claymores from the Demon Commander and I use it to sever his already deceased head.
"Cigunaga tilkita nagamugkta, dif billiserimo vindcit, dif sodo desmat viliki asuru Lucifer demant meligroso. " (This is your leader, I killed him quickly, I can also kill you slowly and show you pain not even Lucifer can mimic if you don't tell me what I want to hear.) I say, smiling as I drop the head on the floor and place my foot on it.
The Demon laughs at me increduously.
"Kinkat sendirmo humans vedigrosso espesia colodoris?" (You serve humans and you expect me to assist you?" He says back to me while a mirthful laugh at the end.
I chuckle lightly, before moving in a bright flash of light and appearing behind the demon.
The demon and everyone around me instantly wonders how I moved so fast and why, and two seconds later the answer is revealed, the demon literally slides off his knees as if they were cheaply glued onto him and the glue wore off.
"Ignorisa flavinta. Dif siganeta forda." (Ignorant remark. I can make your suffering less, you know what to do." I say chuckling lightly.

"Damn, looks like you don't have a leg to stand on." I chuckled. "Sorry, couldn't resist."
Since the one demon wouldn't be walking anywhere, I signaled to Jon to bring the other one over. Once I was sure I had their attention, I continued.
"We have reason to believe that Mephistopheles is somewhere in this region. What I want to know from you is precisely where he is now. If you tell us that, then there's at least a chance you'll make it out of this alive."

I translate for Jim.
"Iskas odores Mephistopheles vicard singata. kinkat dis vizad holdred vinisimad. Hizid vener sodo, faldita masekla."
I pause for a second and look at Jim.
"You're honestly not going to let this one live are you?" I say, looking at him incredulously.
I sigh heavily and I continue talking to the demon.
"Sinivatat singurla vatunisema, Ilise condona vadariso, masakatdo fidemalasu. ." (I'll make this simple, either you tell ME what I want, or I'll draw the blood out of you and make you drink it.)
The demon immediately starts talking and tells us that Mephistopheles is exactly 15 miles north of us.

As soon as the demon is finished Jon walks up behind it, glares at it before kicking it down to the ground, his foot crushing against it's wing muscles. He grabs the blade of his knife and jerks it across the demon's back and out, before slamming it into the neck, killing the demon quickly.
He wipes the demon blood off the blade on the demons coverings before putting it back in it's holder, "One less to worry about" He mutters as he walks away towards the helicopter.

I shrugged. "Well, if we didn't kill them, they'd just give up our location. We're going to be outnumbered as it is. It would be nice if we could maintain some element of surprise."
I checked on the demon Jon had stabbed earlier. He was still twitching a bit. I focused on his chest, psychically crushing his heart. I shook my head and turned back to the others.
"Alright, I guess we should get a move on. We can take the chopper a dozen miles or so. The last couple miles we'll take on foot to avoid being spotted. By the way, good work so far, everyone. Just don't get cocky; this was the easy part."
I walked over to the chopper and started relayed the plan to the pilot. He didn't seem too happy about flying further into demon territory.
"I had orders to take you to the drop zone, that's it," the pilot said. "I can't risk flying any further into demon territory."
"Well, I'm sure as shit not walking 15 miles through the desert," I replied. "We'll be dead from heatstroke before we see another demon. 12 miles, that's all I'm asking. And this is the last time I'll ask nicely."
"Alright, alright. Believe it or not, I want to get out of this alive, so if we run into more demons on the way, I'm getting out of dodge. You'll be on your own from there."
I nodded. "Good enough for me."

"The chopper? again? I got airsick enough the first time."
David got back on behind the other soldiers, feeling a little like a fifth wheel given the little he did during the actual fighting. He ended up hunched over in the back trying to keep his stomach down during the take off again. Eventually Jon offered him his notebook to take his mind off the ride.
"Thanks." David quickly settled into reading, at least he could brush up on intel.
From witness testimony it has been theorised that some minor demon soldiers may be reincarnated damned souls of killers, murderers and other evil types who are having their talents used by the higher demon forces. Whilst they have kept their criminal skills and use their perferred weapons like when they were alive, they add low level fire or electrical manipulation along with increased physical strength and speed, the further back the death date, the more powerful they get, this may mean that the longer one spends in hell, the more of it they bring back with them.
Furthermore, given observation of a eastern european clergyman with suprising rifle marksmanship, these ressurected killers can be annihilated instantly by direct damage to the eyes. the windows to the soul he claimed whilst laughing wildly.
"Interesting stuff."

"As much as I'm impressed by your innovations in flying, I must agree with the doctor. That contraption is by no means, comfortable or easy on the stomach."
I get in and I walk towards the cockpit, passing David along the way while he's reading a notebook.
"Wanna take a guess on how long I've been dead?" I ask him.
