I'm guessing most of you have seen or at least heard of Jurassic Park. Have you ever wondered, "What if X happened?", "What if Y person showed up on the island, too?" or "What if Z person never died?" Well, this is your chance to find out.
For those not familiar with the story, an eccentric old businessman has made a new theme park on a remote island 120 miles off the coast of Costa Rica. The theme park features living attractions: dinosaurs. His scientists have successfully cloned a wide variety of extinct species, and they are kept in high tech enclosures designed and maintained by his team of computer experts. Before the park can open, however, a select audience of lawyers, archaeologists and others are brought in for the very first tour of the park so they can make sure everything is running smoothly. Everything is going fine, until someone with ulterior motives makes their move to steal the park's secrets. They shut down the power grid to cover their tracks, but in doing go, they deactivate the electric fences on the dinosaur enclosures, allowing them to break loose...
Jurassic Park RP will start out as a structured RP, following the story of the movie, then become open-ended. It will start off with all the guests having dinner, then going into the park for the tour. This is meant to give people a chance to get a feel for their characters and others before things take off. However, once the power goes out, it's all sandbox.
Rules (I'll add more as I think of them):
1) No trenchcoating. (Obviously)
2) Characters: You can base your character on someone from the movie, but it's not a necessity. You can be anyone who would have been on the island at the time, within reason. These would include, but are not limited to, archaeologists, scientists and other experts, lawyers, professional hunters, computer programmers, and of course the bad guys who want to steal the secret to creating dinosaurs for their employers. I still really wish you wouldn't play a marine, though.
Characters:
Ty: Dr. David Jeffrey - basically, my spin on Dr. Ian Malcolm. One of the guests invited by the park's owner. He's intelligent and good-humored, but more than a little neurotic. He's apprehensive about the creation of the park, believing that chaos theory is proof that such a complex establishment is doomed to fail.
Scorp: Anthony 'Tony' Rogers - A former fisherman living at Costa Rica, picked along with several other people by Hammond to ferry the park employees to and from the Isla Nublar park. An easy going 'fun uncle' type, usually wears 'loud' Hawaiian shirts. He usually visits the visitors centre whilst on the island. But is saving for a tour when the park opens to the public.
Justin Inman: Justin Inman - 20 year old white male, very athletic, crew cut style brown hair. After returning from Iraq his uncle, a researcher at Isla Sorna, invites him to a VIPish first showing of the park. Was in the running for the marines spec ops after his first tour but didnt make it. A extremely disciplined young man, has a strong sense of honor and justice. But that doesnt mean he wont act a little different now and then. Since he was a kid he had a profound interest in dinosaurs. As such he is excited to see one in real life. He always carrys his issue 92FS pistol with him wherever he goes, though more often or not it is unloaded and is mainly for show.
Dr. Khallos: Dr. Jonathan Khallos (Veterinarian) - Before the park was set up, Khallos was a famed reptile biologist and had written a few papers on the subject of genetic engineering... and so when he heard about the park, being set up by In-gen - the company that had sponsored his research in the past no less - he had Written to Mr Hammond himself to request a job. The long and short of it was that he was hired, and charged with ensuring the health and happiness of the Exhibits as the parks Vet. As such, Khallos has developed an almost maternal attitude to his charges.. although, its questionable if they share it. After all, the vet is the person who shoves his hand up your posterior to check for temperature and jabs sharp things in you for "your own good", and so is not a creatures favorite person.
Grig: John Winnfield - A tech hired In-Gen and the head of their computer department, his job is, in some cases quite literally, to keep the trains running on time. Born in Harlem in 1967, he grew up a quick thinker. hard worker, and intolerant of fools or slackers. Especially when he was responsible for them as their boss. A spinoff of Samuel L Jackson's character, Ray Arnold.
Rei: Miranda Northcott - A woman of Icelandic origin, Her employers are the Iradaztachi Pharmaceutical company.
Her appearance is quite intimidating, with her electric blue eyes and platinum blond hair and the fact that she is 6'3", Also she has no qualms of using her intimidating look and sex appeal to get what she wants. She enjoys her job. Being that she gets paid quite handsomely for company secrets. Right now she's supposed to pose as a head DNA Analyst in charge of the Dinosaur DNA her credentials are forged but very nicely.
Oct: David Agersman - David Agersman is primarily known as a professional big-game hunter. It's his life, his love. He's hunted "everything that breathes in Africa" as well as some other places. He's currently working as a security consultant for the Park, and he comes highly recommended. No, no, not for that! He's here because of his extensive knowledge of animal behaviors. Raptors, he figures, must act a lot like other lizards, and some birds, so, he's here helping Mr. Hammond. Unable to convince the Park to let him bring much else, he did bring a Winchester 94 hunting rifle, a wonderful .444 caliber gift from a friend, though he's been strictly remind not to even entertain the thought of getting it out unless there's an emergency, though he testafies that if they would let him have it on hand "any emergency would be over very fast."
Cleon: Marco Velasquez Chascarillo - 23 years old. A renowned Spanish/Filipino scientist with a PhD in bioengineering, specializing in genetic and stem-cell research. He was invited by Hammond to Jurassic Park in order to offer his professional opinions and reviews on park performance and safety. Ironically, he trades the stereotype of being an out of shape and dorky genius for the stereotype of the Latin 'lover' type; muscular with long hair and a spicy accent. But his love lies in his work.
