Jackal
I am hesitant to follow the unknown agent, and within the next second that was gone, the new hole covered with more rocks.
I shout to the robot, "Find me a way out!" as I start wading to the edge.

OOC: Erm... sorry. Can we change that?
The little robot chirped and started flying along the walls, looking for another tunnel. It spotted an empty space that had reopened during the collapse, and flew inside.

OOC: Well the hole was plugged up.
IC:
I swim after it and watch it as it finds the new tunnel, "Damn your useful" I say to it before climbing out of the water, making sure to drop a *classified* beacon in it and taking a quick sample before looking into the tunnel.
I run down it, full speed as the roof begins to fall, dragonfly just ahead of me, barely running ahead of the rubble as it fell. It chirps before flying to a glimmer of sunlight, a good couple of rocks covering an exit.
I raise my Spectre M4 and open fire, managing to make the rocks go boom and allow me to dive out and dragon fly to fly out.
I find myself in the air and falling watching dragonfly buzzing around me, down towards a body of water, a river and note a water fall in the distance.
I land in the water with a large splash, drifting in the current.

OOC: Dude, I wasn't serious. I don't want my little guy to die just for a cheap gag. Can you just change that post a bit?

Drake dropped out of the tunnel right behind Miskai, landing in the river and surfacing.
Seems they'd made it outside with Con and the soldier. The temple was likely back up the cliff. Not that it'd do anyone any good now it was collapsing.
Drake swam to the edge and climbed out, holding out his hand to pull the others out who would take the gesture.
"So, no gold then? Very lucky for all of you."

David flew through the tunnel at an amazing speed, his weight sending him down the tunnel like a bullet.
He raised his head and looked forward, seeing what appeared to be a slight drop.
"OHHHH CRAAAP!" He yelled as he flew threw the air, landing in the water with a splash.
David struggled to the surface, but only floundered. He shrugged out of his backpack and swam to the surface, taking a deep breath.
"Uhh... hey."
Lucien
Lucien watched as the person he was supposed to follow jumped through a small whole that closed behind him.
"Crap." He said, just before a rock the size of a small car crushed him into a bloody pulp.

ooc: Okay, so how much more cleaning up is to be done here? My part of the story is pretty much done.

OOC: Mine is pretty much done, I'd need to wrap up the rest of the story with jonathon and Conor and the claim to the lake of gold. Maybe when i don't feel lazy I'll post in the writing section. Oh, and Kan will probably try to kill me with a MAC gun or something.

OOC: I'm just about done. I'll wrap things up in this post, hopefully. Possibly one more if I feel like doing this epilogue idea I had.
OC:
Following Abe and Ike's lead, the scientists were able to find and escape route leading them back to the front entrance to the temple. They emerged from the crumbling passage just in time. As the team stopped to tend to the wounded from their earlier firefight, Snake slipped away and headed back to the east wall of the temple.
When he arrived, he found his jeep and the Venezuelan vehicles parked just where they'd been left. Con was waiting there for him, dripping wet.
"Ty! Oh, thank God, man. I don't know what was going on in there. I'm glad you're okay."
"Nice to see you, too. Yeah, don't worry about me." Con held up the little robot Dragonfly. Also soaking wet. "I don't think Dragon fared quite as well."
Snake chuckled. "Hey, I was more worried about you. Don't worry, I can probably fix this. I think the video card should be okay once we dry it out, so at least we won't lose any evidence." His eyes lit up. "Oh, dude, I totally forgot. What about the mission? Did you find anything?"
"Oh, I found something, all right." Con took out the small vial containing the gold-tinged water. "Probably not what everyone was hoping for, but at least we can close the books on this one."
Con climbed in the nearest Venezuelan jeep. He'd noticed the bullet holes in their own jeep, and figured this one would have a better chance of still running. He started up the engine as Snake climbed in after him. Snake was fiddling with his controls again.
"Hey, where are the rest of your little gizmos, anyway?" Con asked.
"Well, Albatross and Miniraptor are both sitting out front somewhere. We can go ahead and leave without them. Once they're finished charging, I'll have them link up again and meet us at the airport.
"Okay." Con shifted into reverse and turned the vehicle around, then took off back down the path toward civilization. "What about that big one in the crate?"
"Ah... it's kind of... not repairable right now."
Con laughed. "Sorry. How the hell did that happen?"
"If you don't mind, I'd rather not discuss it. I'm still a little broken up over it."
"Well, I guess we'll have plenty of time to trade war stories on the way back to the states, huh?"
"Yeah, I guess so..."

Drake had offered Misaki a lift to the airport in his helicopter, better than walking all the way back from the jungle when you had flight clearance. They both had a good laugh about how the lake had turned out to be a bust.
"Take the controls a minute will ya?"
Drake went to the back of the chopper and dug through a final package. Strapping it onto his back and opening the doors.
"See ya later!"
He dove out before she could yell at him. The pack split open to reveal a compact glider. Time to disappear until the Agency called him again. ***************************************************
PATRIOT slowly hummed underneath his makeshift tomb, he was undamaged, but it'd take a while to dig his way out.
For the meantime, he'd think over the details he'd picked up and apply them next time.
Tomorrow was another day after all.

OOC: Sorry, I just had to do this. Brownie points for anyone who recognizes this reference.
IC:
A few hours later, Con and Snake were uncomfortably seated in the coach section of a plane headed for Washington D.C.
"Anywhere in the city?"
"Anywhere in the city - I'll tell you the best public toilet."
Con scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Okay.. Fifty-fourth and Sixth?"
"Sperry Rand Building. 14th floor, Morgan Apparel. Mention my name - she'll give you the key."
"Alright.. Sixty-fifth and Tenth."
Snake scoffed. "Are you kidding? Lincoln Center. Alice Tully Hall, the Met. Magnificent facilities." Snake leaned over and waved to the flight attendant as she walked past. "Excuse me, could I get some more peanuts?"
"Certainly." She looked at Con with a smile. "Anything for you, sir?"
"I'm good, thanks." He dismissively waved her away. Once she was gone, Snake straightened up and started talking again.
"Hey, so what about this robot you saw? It sounded really advanced. You said it talked to you, too, right?"
"Sure did."
"Was it being remotely controlled, or does it actually have a will of its own?"
"Hell if I know. But I thought it sounded way too intelligent to be a robot."
"Hey, you never know. Robotics research has come a long way in the past couple of decades..." He sighed. "I wonder if got destroyed in the cave-in, though. It would be a real shame."
"Yeah... " By now, Con had lost interest, and his thoughts drifted elsewhere. "So, even though there's no gold, do I still get paid?"
Snake rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I think they have to. I mean, gold or none, you did bring back definitive proof of the lake."
"Sweet. After all this, I could really use a little break. Maybe I could use the money and head up to Montreal for a few days. Wanna come?"
"No thanks. I've still got a lot of data to sort through once we get back."
Con smirked. "Sucks to be you."

David massaged his temples. Being caught by a team of amateur SOCOM agents? Probably execution. Nobody being able to communicate with command? Probably a demotion for the agents. Getting the exact same captain going back to Miami as David did going down? Priceless.
He had swam to shore and hauled ass away from the river basin the groups had fallen into, trying to reach the camp and steal a vehicle. After fifteen minutes of stumbling through the jungle, he managed to find a shot up jeep with empty boxes covering the inside. David was happy to find keys in the ignition, but unhappy when a group of guys in suits surrounded him back in town.
They were cookie cutter CIA- types. Broad shouldered, kinda wiry guys who pissed arrogance. David had decided to do what they said and follow them, he probably wouldn't get through the airport anyways. They had hustled him through security and put him on a horrifyingly familiar plane. When David heard the captain over the loudspeaker, his worst fears were confirmed.
"Weellll howdy everybody and thanks for flying United Airlines! I'm your captain Rob and we're about to go on an exciting trip!" The agents were even worse off than he was, flinching whenever his loud, obnoxious voice permeated the air, which is something it did all to often. Needless to say, it was a looong, looong trip.
When they reached Miami another group of suits switched off the ones who had accompanied him from Venezuela. These guys were pros, obviously from some kind of black ops section of the military. When they set down in Washington D.C. David was rushed to the Pentagon. For some strange reason, they sent him to the Office of Naval Intelligence. Who sat with him and calmly waited for Alex, David's handler.
When he showed up, everyone left David in a interrogation room for a few hours. He had fun finding and taking apart the surveillance gear inside. The Naval Intelligence spook told him all charges were dropped, and it was back to the normal routine of drinking and trying his best to destroy his second liver, waiting for Alex to show up and ruin the mood.
This happened a few weeks later, when David was walking back to the apartment he rented. Alex called to him from the shadows and explained to him that he was to be at City Hall at noon, and to look under the statue of George Washington for a false rock.
The next day David stumbled onto the grounds of City Hall. He was able to pick up the note left in the rock and pocket it before being arrested for public intoxication, and indecent exposure. It seems that the police were a bit uptight on the whole no pants situation. He was released a few hours later. He sobered up and called his contacts, explaining how the powered armor had performed, and calling the number the piece of paper had provided him with. The next day, UPS delivered two boxes containing Balance gear, new weapons, a new identity as George Enos, and a new set of armor, which he hid in the closet, not needing it for the forthcoming mission.
After this whirlwind of events, David was tired as the village bicycle. So, he went out and got wasted. Again.
