Obviously I put that tag up to ensure that if we do get into a spoilerific conversation about the film that no one gets offended.
I saw the film several times at an Imax in Edmonton. By several I mean three... and it was awesome the whole bank job at the start has stuck with me and is an amazing scene every time I see it. Though it was funny talking to my friend and discussing the many scenes that gave us GTA flashbacks. ex. the burning firetruck.
While I heard some people bemoan the whole mob plotline, I actually enjoyed it. It really served to show the sheer escalation occurring within Gotham City. First Batman destroys the mob and strikes fear into the criminal underclass, then through this a truly fearless and ruthless new criminal rises. One not bound by the rules of all tho old order. The old order, seeing an opportunity to "go back to the way things were" latch onto something they do not truly understand the let the joker out of the box.
Parallel to this was the descent of the "white knight" and the creation of two-face. I loved that they really did not hold back on two-face. While the joker overshadows everything in this film, even batman, it is sad because Aaron Eckhart gave a gem of a performance. If Heath LEdger had not doen such a bloody amazing job in a more "satanic"version of the joker, then I would think that Aaron Eckhart should be up for best-supporting actor.
The movie also had more Commissioner Gordon, who is played by one of my personal favorite actors, Gary Oldman. Having more Gordon only ends up making this film better. I mean after all the best scene from Batman Begins was when Gary Oldman is in the tumbler... <_< >_>
But back to the Joker, he is probably one of the best villains I have ever seen on film. He might even top a certain assassin in No Country for Old Men.
Thoughts, ranting, kicking Fallen out of a window?

It was pretty good, but I don't think Heath Ledger quite captured the joker.I think it was the writing, or it might be the buzz because he died. I would give him a 8.5 out of ten. Like ya said Rakk, he kinda stole the show from Aaron. I think the buzz really inflated the movie, and the writing was sub par. The sub plot between Batman and whatshername didn't affect the movie. I guess it could be argued thats what caused him to know he had to take up the mantle of batman, but Harvey Dent's death and the escalation of crime that will come after his cases are dropped will mean he will have to anyway.
It was a bit convoluted with the two villains, but the movie definitely was the best batman movie ever created, even with its faults.
Oh, and twoface isn't dead. His coin landed heads up on the ground, signifying that he is still alive.Plus he fell from the same height that batman dropped the mob boss, who said "This isn't a big enough of a drop to kill a man."
Any ideas for other villains in the third? I think Harvey Quinn would be a good choice, as long as they don't mention the joker.Maybe ManBat? Or a Marvel/DC crossover? I would love to see batman in the avengers!

Personally I thought the two villains made a nice balance. Joker representing chaos with his reversal gambits and rough scarring, whilst Dent represented order with his symetrical scars and planning every move.
Morgan freeman got his crowning moment of awesome with the veiled threats to the blackmailer.
I enjoyed the hong kong sequence showcasing batmans new gear and resources at work. Prepared for anything that guy.
Heath as the Joker, amazing stuff, and a good writing of the character, introducing randomness into gotham crime and watching the order of his opponents hold them back, forcing them to choose chaos to have any chance.
and a sequel? Well, I'd kinda like to see Bane, maybe Ron Perlman being the only actor I think would have the smarts and muscle to properly potray him. Or maybe more Ra's Al Ghul, maybe introduce Talia.

Hmm, Bane would be good. Then they could introduce smackers or stabbers or whatever they were called. Slap patches filled with the same drug Bane uses, like in that one Batman Beyond episode.

I would love to see batman in the avengers! Well if thats your view of what happened, I think that is what they will do as Heath is dead. And Harely Quinn, while one of the greatest villains, sort of needs her "Mistah J." I vote for Talia Al'Ghul, or Man-Bat. I'd wait until a film four to have cat-woman show up (too many bad memories from a certain actress whose last name is Berry). Maybe bring Jim Carrey in as the Riddler again, but do a decent job with the villain. Or bring in Mr. Freeze, and not have the governator spewing one-liners. The TAS did a good job re-creating him. Then again I consider myself a fan of Talia Al'Ghul coming back, as it serves to create a love interest for Bruce Wayne/Batman (after the death of his old one), creates a villain, and brings back Ras Al'Ghul at the same time. Villains who know Batman's secret identity. Or we can just have the villain be El Scorpio, a comic book fan who just points out how bloody ridiculous this all is. Kind of like the Joker, but less anarchistic and more Northern Ireland British.

No, thats firefly...
My vote is heavily in favor of Talia Al'Ghul. Because then they can bring Ra's back. And bring the ninja League of Shadows back.

Ra isn't immortal though, this is supposed to be a realistic Batman. Maybe if Talia was insane and thought she was Ra's or something, it could work. Maybe a mixture of them.Talia and Manbat or something.

Maybe a mixture of them.Talia and Manbat or something. He isn't but with the lazerus pit he technically it. Manbat is on the same level as Ra's being immortal. If they cross that line, then it allows them a little more lee-way with villains. Though sadly nothing will top the Joker.

Has anyone else noticed that, with the older batman movies everyone turned evil due to some scientific exeperiment gone wrong, or from some acid, whereas in the newer batman movies everyone's clinically insane or deranged?
Also, where' the frick is robin. He's not-as-great-as-batman-ness amuses me.

You know if Robin came into it, then both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan (The Director) would leave the film. As would probably the rest of the cast. And if robin comes in, so too does the bat nipple.

Still Acid now loses to mental inbalances?

But mental imbalances are so much more fun.
Then again so are Lazarus pits...
Funny thing is that both Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhall is that they both signed two picture contracts... and they both supposedly "died" in this film. I sense that they are coming back at some point in the future.

Thats the general consensus of the "obvious" usual hollywood tricks. But I don't think I would pass it by them to use a hollywood style ressurection of Two-Face now that the Joker is dead irl.
Scorp knows my general bias towards them bringing Talia Al'Ghul into the third movie.

Gary Oldman said the Riddler will be the new villian. www.movieweb.com/news/18/29618.phpI know who it is.Remember the short guy at Wayne industries who tried to blackmail Batman? Remember his name? Mr.Reese.Mysteries. He figured out the riddle of Batman, and has a witty last name, I think it's possible he could be a nice cameo for eagle eyed fans.
