About a year ago, I was involved in the battle of Giddings mall against the Big Bang. We held out for over a month. We were organized, able to coordinate and able to hold out. I just watched Giddings mall fall over a period of three days.
I've been gone for about 6 months, but it seems to me like the groups aren't what they used to be. What's going on?

CSS. Counter-Strike Syndrome. The game is filled with 2 kinds of players: newbs and experts. The experts weed out about 90% of the newbies, leaving only about 10% who don't quit out of frustration.
Of these 10%, the survivors tend to band together and try to replicate thing that work for the Experts, who slowly begin to grow bored with the game and leave. This lets those previous "semi-newbs" to gradually fill their slots.
Hence why it took 1 month on one occasion, and 3 days on another. The first time, you had more experienced players. The second time, the population was made up of people emulating the tactics of the first event.

Good old Counter Strike Syndrome. I should have thought of that. I miss the good old days where there was actually a fighting chance for the survivors. The full scale seiges were fun.

Yes. The Semi-Newbs try old tried-and-true tactics, but don't consider that Zack might have them figured out.
Hope I helped.

I kinda do. The old sieges were crazy (even though you only really played for like, 10 minutes a day, if I remember correctly). Search spams, barricade reinforcing, body dumps, situation updates, axe cleaves to the face, rampant accusations about who was really a PK'er and who was not. Then all the forums discussion about strategy, the frequent trips to the UD wiki to check out the latest defensive theorycraft and active Revive Points...
Ron Burgundy and the Channel Four News Team. Salute!
