I started playing a little over a week ago, and I've started several characters.
All of my survivors have gained a skill already, and none of my Zombies have. I read several guides that stated Zombies should log off in a horde, but I've found that staying in a ransacked building by myself is much safer, because I have been PK'd by zombies almost every single day, on every single one of my zombie chars.
I eventually started trying this myself, and found this is a much better source of XP than looking for survivors. I plan on doing this with my Zombie chars until I get a couple of the skills that will allow me to move faster, and have a better shot at getting to survivors.
So, is zombie PK as looked down upon as survivor PK? I'll admit that quite a few of the people who attacked me were very high level with almost all of the zombie and survivor skills, but for lvl 1 zombies, I just don't see a more reliable way to get XP.

Only the people who take the game too seriously look down on PKing. Others believe it adds 'character' to their characters (some actually refer to PKers as murders when playing in character).
Also zombie on zombie PKing, they call that ZKing.
You'll get exp either way, so just have fun.

As a zombie, I do not mind ZKing, because I just stand up after it. Death to a zombie is like breathing to a survivor it happens a lot.
The only thing I find weird is that you are afraid of death. As a zombie it is basically meaningless. And many people understand the need of babyzombies to farm from their fellow horde members.

I recommend it. But if you joina horde make sure to get into contact with them. They may have attacked you out of territory.

It's fine if they kill you but it's super annoying if they wound you leaving you open for easy headshots.

Go to a suburb with very few zeds. It took me a while to find a survivor, but when I did, he was logged out and alone.
Got him down to 2 health before I ran out of AP.
