I have three ideas that I wish to propse:
1) Doctors and Medics ought to heal 5 more hp at the start (making the First Aid skill an additional 5 on top of that) because a Doctor or Medic can do more than the average person with a First Aid Kit (like sutures versus band-aids).
2) Rapid transport from suburb to suburb. In other words, perhaps some sort of car or bus that would allow people to move to the edge of a new suburb for less AP (maybe only as long as the car station is maintained or two car stations--one in each respective suburb--are simultaneously operational/maintained?).
3) Free speaking. It seems to me that the AP cost for speaking cuts down way to much on role playing (perhaps someone could explain to me the reason for the AP cost...is there one?).
Thanks for reading, please let me know your thoughts.
Best regards,
Dr. Cobb

1) Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought one of those classes started out with the first-aid skill, which does just that. However, that's really not very useful for new characters, since healing more HP per first aid kit means they earn less experience per person healed.
2) A lot of people have suggested something like this. It's hard to find a fair way to do it.
3) I believe the AP limit was in place to cut down on spam. Otherwise, people would stand there yakking all day, and everyone in the room would get a huge list of garbage to scroll through when they log in.

All alts should start at lvl1, medics already heal an extra 5hp anyway , and doctors can tell who is injured so this is already batter than an unskilled char can do. No because this would eliminate allot of the risk in the game. eg. having to travel through a ruined burb, lack of free running routes etc. It an apocalypse not a walk in the park Can you say SPAM! ;D

After playing a bit more UD, (I now have a lev 3 doctor and lev 4 firefighter) I totally agree with all of your comments. I think that the AP cost for speech really increases roleplaying (this is the first game I've played where people actually do RP).
The transport thing makes sense too. Actually for me this was just a matter of getting used to only having 50 AP. Now I feel surprised at how often I log in and have lots of AP. Maybe it is the free-running skill that really makes this work (in that you can do a lot more with 50 AP when you have free running).
Again, this game is awesome. Thanks for your responses, and sorry for the slow/lack of a reply--finals week, ya know?
Best,
Dr. Cobb

Good ideas, to be sure, but the free speech (ha!) thing I got to disagree with. I think the reason is the IP hit-limit. Okay, yeah, and SPAM. But people would max out their IP limit before they knew what hit them. The AP cost keeps people in check.

How about... the free speech thing. We put an ignore option so you can ignore a player if they spam. And if that doesn't work, we have warnings and punishments against spam. www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwy2MPT5RESomeone had to do it.

Okay, Jerus, if you want to bring up an old thread, have something relevant to add and not a monty python sketch, despite how funny they may be.

Oh jeez. Didn't realize this was an old thread... Sorry. >.<
I guess my point is don't punish the good players for what the bad players misuse whatever for.

You can already ignore people in your contacts list. Still, that doesn't stop someone the first time they do it.
Personally, I like the ap cost for speech. It discourages pointless chatter, and makes you budget your actions more intelligently.
