Quite. And, for the record, if some poor sap were to have Porphyria: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porphyriaand that one gentic disorder that prevents skin from healing UV damage (I forget the name).... Classic case of "vampirism." And, Grig, I tend to disagree just a tad. While no "classic" examples exist, it doesn't mean that they don't.

Obviously I can't say outright they don't. It's definitely possible for some variation on the classic depictions of supernatural beings to exist. It's just a matter of how possible.
Though with the science of genetic engineering, I guess you could encode both such conditions into a transmittable virus, along with, I dunno, a strong desire for violence.
Of course, that's a scientific route as opposed to a supernatural one. In the classic sense, where shit like that happens for no discernible reason other than maybe a gypsy curse, I'd say it's fairly unlikely.

I gotta go with the old statement of energy not being created or destroyed, just transformed. I'd like to think it goes for human personality as well.
Maybe spend some time f*cking with the living before we pass on to whatever else goes on.
