1. Try and be as descriptive as you can. Remember you are telling a story sure text is fun, but don't limit your post to just part of a conversation or an "I agree" type post. Sure that "I agree" can be crucial to a story... BUT what does that say about what the character is thinking, doing, drinking seeing or otherwise.
2. Foul language not allowed. Sorry the TOS is clear on PB. It applies to the entire board and it applies here as well.
3.Remember kids read this board, well they might... well I think they do... so keep it within acceptable levels, no discussion of what or who, you can imply something happened but don't go nuts and describe it. This is one of those times being as vague as possible helps.
4.No Trenchcoating! It makes you look like an idiot, it is a total Deus Ex Machina and not the good kind like on Lost. It also derails a thread and saps the fun out of everything. It is the same as godmodding. You will not get a headshot every time, you will not throw three knives at the same time and hit three different targets in different positions in the head. Realism is good, even if the story allows for some leeway, don't go nuts.
5.Make it clear where Action and Dialogue is, Quotation marks help but sometimes separating the two makes it look neater and nicer. Like in a Hollywood script.
6. Be original in your posts, stealing from other members is a no-no, some people spend hours on their posts. I can sometimes on a long post spend an hour just writing. Which is why I post so infrequently. No Cliches either... please it goes without saying with be original... but still it had to be mentioned.
7.Stay in line and step with the RP if it is set during a certain time period stick within the time period and remember where technology was or might be. If they say this is in the future but no lasers, than no lasers.
8. Clear all big changes to parts of the story, like adding a character, or killing off a character with either the thread leader (in the case of adding an extra character for you to control) or the player in charge of said character. If they don't agree to it, then don't do it.
9. Be respectful of other members ideas, and writing, everyone comes to the table with something different and you may not always see eye-to-eye with how something was performed but please remain civil and In Character.
10. No Called hits, I said it once, but it has to be said again, you must clear everything with someone else if their character is effected. If my character is going to disable Character X's Car so he can't escape the serial killer or monster or Mongol Horde by vehicle clear it with him first. If you don't that is godmodding and unfair to everyone else in the RP.
11. The first post by the OP (Unless stated otherwise s/he is the thread leader) should contain the rules of the thread and state what is allowed and disallowed in general. In case of a WWI or WWII thread s.he could say "Keep within time period technology please, RAMT for the time can be applied sometimes but not always" (RAMT = Radical Applications of Modern Equipment). And also give a synopsis of the story so everyone is on the same page.
12. No OOC spam, yes you need to have that very important world shattering discussion about what meatball sub you had for lunch and how good it is and that a friend of yours just got married, but that has no place in an RP where your supposed to make In Character Posts about stuff they, they being the character you are RPing, are doing. OOC posts in the thread should be about the thread, The Off Topic RP does not mean Off the Topic of the RP. Not only that these tend to cause a burst of pure OOC spam which kill the threads rhythm and flow. Please always at least have some part of an IC post when you post, and put effort into that IC post as well.
Rule of thumb, those running the RP can determine what to do with the plot of the story, or the characters within in reasonable bounds and if someone breaks the above rules in more than one fashion then they are within all rights to eject the person from the RP.
