Authors note: Much of the information from the introduction in this first post here is copy and pasted from the Resident Evil Wiki, particularly these pages here and here, with few additions and reworkings by me. The author is clearly not adept in the English language so before criticizing the post's grammar and weak word usage and placement, take note that it probably wasn't me that wrote that particular sequence of words. I will begin writing whenever I feel like
I was mostly inspired by this great fan-made video of the U.B.C.S., astounding in terms of scale in my humble opinion for an amateur film.
Introduction
In the film continuity, the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Force (U.B.C.F.) is a small, elite international mercenary unit, militarily superior to its video game canonical counterparts, the U.B.C.S. The U.B.C.F. is compromised of athletic, sharpshooting, virtuous operatives that are known to allow their personal morals take priority over given orders. In relative parallel, S.T.A.R.S. is made up of over 30 members (Rather than the 13 agents from the first game, with only five surviving the events), leaving the Select Police Force (S.P.F.) of the timeline nonexistant due to a lack of need for use. In the video game canon, the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) is a special forces unit owned by the Umbrella Corporation, specializing in rescue operations during biohazard outbreaks and has been very successful in every mission, although the unit suffers a high mortality rate due to the hazardous nature of their operations. Thus, the U.B.C.S. is comprised almost exclusively of convicted war criminals and mercenaries from around the world who joined the U.B.C.S. as an alternative to capital punishment for any crimes they may have been caught committing. The unit consists of almost 120 operatives, divided between four platoons (with two or three squads per platoon), and members are encouraged to use regular civilians as decoys or human shields if their situation became dire.
In this adaptation, which mixes elements from both the film and games, the U.B.C.F.-grade Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service is an elite organization consisting of almost 120 international members divided between 4 platoons, with 2-5 squads of varying size (depending on the squad‘s role for an operation) per platoon. Like in the second film, the agents wear dark urban-colored fatigue pants, black combat boots, black fingerless gloves, a black tactical shirt and a black Level III tactical Kevlar vest with the U.B.C.S. unit's logo displayed on the back and the operative's surname printed across the top. They have thigh holsters for their sidearms, the U.B.C.S. given standard pistol being the SIG Pro SP2009, though merely an encouraged suggestion to promote easy ammunition exchange between operatives, there's not much else stopping them from being varied and a matter of the agent‘s preference, from 9mm Berettas to .50-cal. revolvers. The standard assault rifle is the IMI Tavor CTAR-21, a more compact version of the regular TAR-21 ideal for CQB-oriented incursions yet still field-capable, designed by Israeli Military Industries. Their rifles are also outfitted with a variety of laser aiming modules and tactical illumination devices and reflex scopes. The unit is encompassed of convicted war criminals and mercenaries from around the world as mentioned above.
Synopsis (Plot spoilers)
The U.B.C.S. in its entirety was deployed to Raccoon City during the T-Virus outbreak on September 28, 1998 under the guise of reinforcing the Raccoon City Police Department (R.P.D.). Although the operatives were told they were there to assist in the battle against the T-Virus epidemic and the evacuation of survivors from the worst affected areas, the Umbrella Corporation's true motives for the organization were using the unit as cannon fodder for their Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.), particularly the Nemesis and Hunter models run amok, as well as any other irregular creatures that resulted from infection during the outbreak. Carlos Oliveira was the only confirmed survivor during the outbreak although it is rumored that Nicholai Ginovaef, one of the "supervisors" (see below), and a handful of other U.B.C.S. regulars that caught wind of "Mission Code: XX" (the bombing of Raccoon City to end the threat of further infection), also escaped the city alive.
Supervisors (or observers) were special operatives within the U.B.C.S. whose purpose was to gather combat data from B.O.W.'s and the various other infected creatures wandering Raccoon City whilst maintaining a clandestine profile within the U.B.C.S. ranks. They were also tasked with gathering samples and destroying all evidence of the Umbrella Corporation's involvement in the research and production of the T-Virus. To better coordinate their efforts, supervisors were acquainted with each other prior to the beginning of the operation. Nicholai Ginovaef and Tyrell Patrick were merely two of several supervisors within Raccoon City conducting "Operation: Bravo-16" (the code used throughout the mission by supervisors regarding their true objectives). Supervisors were provided with means of communications to contact their superiors, and were implanted with higher-quality vaccines as well as provided with instructions on how to reach certain extraction points. Almost every supervisor participating in "Operation: Bravo-16" was killed during the course of the mission due mostly to Nicholai Ginovaef. Intent on hoarding all research and combat data for himself, Nicholai systematically murdered his comrades before stealing the information they had gathered and successfully escaping Raccoon City.
During the Raccoon City incident, the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service was virtually annihilated, with only a small handful of survivors documented on record. The rest were either confirmed deceased or simply missing in action and presumed killed. Umbrella considered their scheme accomplished, but unbeknownst to them -- there were a few more survivors.
This story follows Squad Alpha of Charlie Platoon (a unit already highly-experienced with the T-Virus and it’s capabilities due to previous operations), their exertions after wising up to Umbrella’s true intentions, and their subsequent detrimental quest to get out of an infested Raccoon City in one piece. Once Alpha Squad’s supervisor was almost murdered by Ginovaef, he finally (albeit reluctantly) revealed Umbrella’s surreptitious aims to his teammates, and, after a lengthy frantic apology accompanied by rifle butt kisses and kicks to the ribs, the squad regained their composure, unanimously agreed to abandon their allegiance to Umbrella Corporation for good, and vowed to stick together to make it out of their ostensibly hopeless situation alive as they have done in the past, having learned that holding true to cooperative collaboration is their best bet for cheating death once again. Outcasted, virtually everybody is a potential enemy to these renegades; not only is their affiliation to the shady Umbrella Corporation, the conglomerate solely responsible for this whole mess, an automatic postulation for suspicion, but due to their mutinous desertion and outright defiance to direct orders from their superiors, Umbrella sent out stringent mandates to all the other surviving U.B.C.S. operatives for the “traitors” to be killed on sight.
Squad Alpha, Charlie Platoon of the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service
Rather large in number, this particular team was reserved for low-intel, high priority operations where little was known of what they would be facing off against. A total of eleven members strong, Squad Alpha of the U.B.C.S.'s Charlie Platoon is already acquainted with the T-Virus and what it's capable of, from previous operations conducted by the team. When stranded within a completely infected underground research facility to extract irreplaceable data and a pair of valuable scientists for Umbrella, the squad encountered many hardships and terrifying monstrosities on their despairing struggle to escape the horror alive. Only through raw determination and unwavering teamwork was the unit able to complete their mission with an unprecedented 92% survival rate (their 12th man was lost to a rogue Tyrant T-103 that conservatively stalked the team throughout their 9-hour duration). After the chilling events of their encounters, the remaining eleven members developed some sort of bond with one another; Maybe not to the extent of a stereotypical brotherhood relationship forged in a military unit, but to the point where they genuinely respect each other and are (at the very least) much less likely to betray one another in a desperate situation as most other squads are notorious for doing due to their volatile natures as ruthless war criminals and mercenaries.
