Is it too late to start this game as a newb? I have been playing for about a week, for the required 15 min a day, but so far I only have 11 exp points.
I tried a policeman, but the clip ran out, and so far all police stations I can't enter, so did a medic, but can't find first aid kits cause I can't get in any hospitals, did a scout who because of freerunning is encumbered with stuff and is the one with the actual 11 exp.
The other character I tried was the zombie. The zombie has 31 exp points in the same amount of AP spent as the scout.
I am thinking the game is so old, that almost every one else has free running, which is why all the important supply buildings are either barricaded up or completely ruined.
BTW I do not have a "group". I haven't even seen any Talk in the game....I am not even sure i understand how you coordinate a game you only play for 15 min a day...
Ideas?

I'm guessing that mmo's like this can be intimidating with people leaving their high level characters around. But just take it at your own pace. Now coordination. You could look up a group on the UD wiki wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Main_PageA lot of groups have their own forums, just find the one you like, see about joining them and try coordinating with those players. If you don't want a group just yet however, the wiki has a lot of advice, a map of the city, desrciptions of skills and items and anyone here can answer questions.

Yeah, and, besides, there was talk of forming a new group right here the other day, so maybe we can include you in there. Yeah, not having free running sucks, and its always a drag when you run out of ammo for your gun, too. But remember that you don't necessarily need guns for combat - while guns ARE useful, remember that a fireaxe doesn't need reloading See if you cant find your way into a mundane building, like a school or train depot - they're much less likely to be broken into than hospitals or police stations and zombies might just walk on by. Also, you might find that a friendly medic or something might pause to heal you for XP as they free run past. What's more, some buildings such as Pubs have melee or even ranged weapons hidden inside: for example, a pub has Pool Cue's and Shotguns. Admittedly its with a low find rate, but you never know, you might find something useful, and even if you don't the beer in there can heal you, if memory serves. EDIT: Oh, and, remember... Always get free running as your first level, no matter what =p

Hey man, anybody who is willing to play the game and can form a complete sentence is a welcome addition. Follow the wiki link, look around, there's about a thousand different tools for the aspiring Urban-Deader. Specifically, there are a few guides, and resources include Firefox addons and various city maps which are very useful.

It's a shame you missed the Borehamwood thing. It makes for a nice testing ground for the game. It's a temporary site, so I don't think anyone made it to a very high level. Of course, death is also permanent there...
Anyway, what everyone said is true. In my experience, the two best ways to get experience early on are: 1) heal your fellow survivors 2) hit zombies with an axe
Both of the above methods require a skill or two to be effective though. For instance, starting as a doctor makes option 1 more viable, while a fireman would be better for #2. On the other hand, scouts are much less likely to end up dead in the street due to their ability to get around without stepping outside.
Remember, though, death in Malton is never permanent. You have the option of playing as a zombie, but you can always get revived by a survivor with a syringe and Necrotech training (one handy thing about everyone being high level: everyone can potentially revive you).
