Hello all, I'm here to pass on an important message. I hope this is the appropriate board for an OOC post.

I'm not sure if anyone here has heard of or knows Athair Bas.

Athair was a very active PKer from Legends of Darkness. On September 11th, Brad Glore, the guy who ran Athair died from artificial heart valve complications. He was only 35 years old and leaves a girlfriend and 2 kids behind.

This is the first time in 4 years I've ever heard of a UD player who has passed away (for real). I exchanged a few PMs with Athair at PKA and wish I could say I knew him as well as his LoD friends. I remember him having a really great sense of humor in PKA spam.

A whole bunch of PKers are gathering at Doran Arms, [26, 80] Lockettside for an OOC sort of wake for his UD friends. Bounty hunters and the major zombie groups have been informed and will not interfere for about a week or so while we are there. Many are in fact dropping in to pay their respects. Anyone who knew him or want to drop by and say something are welcome to do so. It's an out-of-character sort of event so in-game issues are being left on the street. I understand even Kevan has been informed.

There's a memorial thread at the new Brainstock board. LoDs thread concerning Athairs' loss is here in case anyone wants to drop by and pay their respects.

I'd join in, but I'd feel like kind of a hypocrite since I never spoke to him. Still, it's good to hear he's not being forgotten by his friends. It's always tough on loved ones when someone goes too early. I hope the family's taking it alright.

Me too. I checked out his MySpace page. Cute kids. Made me sad. It kind of lights a fire under me to go pick up an additional life insurance policy on myself for my youngest kid in case I get hit by a bus unexpectedly.

The gathering is open to everyone Tycoonius if you do get a chance. A lot of people who didn't know him have been by this morning just to give the LoD guys a nod, from Creedy Defense Force to the Saints and people who had no relations at all with LoD have stuck their head in the door. It's kind of cool seeing enemies and total strangers dropping the in-game pretense on behalf of another UD player.

Unless you are claiming to have known him personally, I'm not sure you know he has kids. I checked.
There is only one Brad Glore on myspace and he has no pictures of his kids up.
